Footprint

.
.
Monk Hua Chi is pictured outside a monastery near Tongren, Qinghai province February 25, 2009, where he left footprints in the wood by praying at the same spot for decades. Hua Chi, who believes he is around 70 years old, has prayed at the same spot so many times that perfect footprints remain on the wooden doorstep. The monk and doctor of traditional medicine has been coming to the small temple in the monastery town of Tongren in China's western Qinghai province for nearly twenty years to perform a strict personal ritual. Every day, before sunrise, Hua arrives at the temple steps, placing his feet onto his footprints as he bends down to kowtow a few thousand times before walking around the temple.

Metal Nest

.
HONG KONG
.

A pair of magpies has constructed a nest in a built-up part of Hong Kong using metal sticks apparently swiped from a nearby construction site. In an example of nature's ability to improvise even in the most urban setting, a third of the nest in the city's Tuen Mun district was found to be made from metal. The innovative construction only came to light after around 40 metal sticks appeared on the ground over the past week, with one striking a woman on the head.
.
"Urban construction has already compressed birds' settlement space, I hope humans and birds can live peacefully together."

Alfie Patton & Chantelle Steadman

UNITED KINGDOM.
.

.
LONDON : A 13-year-old British boy has fathered a child with his 15-year-old girlfriend. Baby-faced Alfie Patton, became a youngest dad in Britian, when his girlfriend Chantelle Steadman gave birth to a baby girl Maisie Roxanne on 9 Feb 2009. Alfie was just 12 when he impregnated Chantelle, then 14.
.
The girl was taking birth control pills but missed one. The country has one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in Europe, and government figures show that about 39,000 girls under age 18 became pregnant in 2006. More than 7,000 of those girls were younger than 16.

Valentine @ Arab Saudi

.

.
Saudi Arabia has asked florists and gift shops to remove all red items until after Valentine's Day, calling the celebration of such a holiday a sin, as it encourages immoral relations between unmarried men and women. Religious police are banning the sale of any gifts related to the romantic holiday, driving up black market prices for offerings like the ever-popular red rose.
.
Every year, the Muslim kingdom's Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice clamp down on shops a few days before February 14, instructing them to remove red roses, red wrapping paper, gift boxes and teddy bears. On the eve of the holiday, they raid stores and seize symbols of love.
>
"Because of the ban on red roses, a black market has flowered ahead of Valentine's Day. Roses that normally go for five Saudi riyal (RM4.50) fetch up to 30 riyal (RM28) on February 14. We deliver the bouquets in the middle of the night or early morning, to avoid suspicion," one florist said.

Octuplets

.
CALIFORNIA
.

.
.
Single mother, Nadya Suleman-33yrs, checked into the hospital in the 23rd week of her pregnancy. On 26 Jan 2009, she was in her 30th week when she gave birth to the six boys and two girls, weighing between 680 grams and 1.4 kilograms. In total, she had been carrying almost 11 kilograms of baby weight before the delivery.
.
It took a team of 46 doctors and nurses five minutes to deliver the nature-defying brood via Caesarean section – with the eighth taking everyone in the maternity ward by surprise. The medical team took up four delivery rooms and conducted a relay race to get the babies from the mother and into the care of nurses as they popped out.
.
The babies' names in birth order are Noah, Maliah, Isaiah, Nariah, Makai, Josiah, Jeremiah & Jonah. Maliah & Nariah are female.
..
The octuplets will probably remain in hospital for at least another two months.
.
She already had six children by IVF, used a fertility doctor to give birth to her babies. All 14 children were conceived after sperm donation by the same friend and she used the same doctor for all of her IVF treatment. The director of the fertility programme said that the children could face serious health risks, including breathing problems and neurological damage.
..
“It’s a risky decision to try to have all eight babies, I would not recommend it under any circumstances, but I respect a parent’s decision.”
.
Much of the anger surrounds the eight babies' conception by IVF.

Satellites Collide In Space

.
US - Russian

.
US and Russian satellites crashed in space, the first known major accident of its kind, creating two clouds of debris that were being tracked by experts. The collision took place 800 kilometers (500 miles) above the Earth. According to Space News, the 900 kilogram (1,980 pound) Russian Cosmos 2251 satellite collided with Iridium's 560-kilogram (1,232-pound) craft at 16:55 GMT, some 790 kilometers (490 miles) above Siberia. Cosmic collisions of space junk are not unheard of, but NASA officials said it was the first involving two intact satellitesSome 6,000 satellites have been sent into space since the Soviet Union launched the first man-made orbiter, Sputnik 1, in 1957.

Koala Bear Rescue

Australia Wasteland Wildfire
.
.

David Tree - the firefighter, noticed the koala moving gingerly on scorched paws as his fire patrol passed. Clearly in pain, the animal stopped when it saw Tree. The Koala is nicknamed Sam.
..
"It turned around, sat on his bum and sort of looked at me with (a look) like, put me out of my misery, I unscrewed the bottle, tipped it up on his lips and he just took it naturally. He kept reaching for the bottle, almost like a baby. "
