Illegal Rail Trolleys move Manila's poor

.

MANILA - the Philippines

District of Pandacan
.
Ride along Manila's poor is dangerous
BUT
it is an irresistible draw - cheap and doesn't use oil.

The 3-kilometre stretch of rail that cuts through the congested community to ply their dangerous trade. The train comes every 4 hours, but if one appears off-schedule, panic ensues. When no chugging trains are in sight, they sneak their eight-seat trolleys - small, metal-wheeled carts with benches fashioned from scrap wood - on the railway to ferry students, office workers and even policemen on short trips. A ride costs 5-pesos ( 37sen )
.
''I use my feet, my gasoline is my sweat! '' said the trolley operator
